Obituary

From the Brandon Journal, June 3, 1946: "Frank Thomas Firth passed away at his home in the Third ward Monday evening Dec 31 of a heart ailment of a month's duration. He was born Aug. 14 1877, the second youngest child of George and Susan Elliott Firth on a farm in Westburg township and lived all of his life on various farms in Buchanan county except the past eleven years since his retiring has made his home in the Third ward where he operated a taxi in this city for past several years. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by the Rev. A. H. Zeilinger and kept his faith until his death. He was united in marriage to Jessie Kaltenbach on Sept. 9, 1903. To this union were born three daughters, one of whom preceded him in death. Besides his widow he leaves to mourn his passing two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Gosse and Mrs. Velma Jarrett, both of Independence; five grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Emma Miller, Goodwin, South Dakota, and Mrs. Nettie Clark of Southgate, Calif., and Mrs. Alice Neidy of Winthrop; also two brothers, John of Los Angeles, Calif., and George of Tacoma, Wash."
