Statement of William B. Torrence, John S. Torrence, A Daniels, L M Strong, W J Hallerson and James E Bromwell
Know all men by these present that we William B. Torrence, John S. Torrence, and A Daniels, L M Strong [and W J Hallerson?and J E Bromwell] of the County of Linn and Territory of Iowa are held and firmly bound unto the people of the Territory of Iowa in the final sum of five thousand in current money of the United States for which payment will and truly to be made and performed? we and each of us do bind our selves and being executors, administrators and assigns jointly and severally and firmly by these presents, witness our hands and seals this 3rd day of October A.D. 1842.
The condition of the above obligation is such, that if the said William B. Torrence and John S. Torrence administrators of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of John S. Torrence, deceased, do make a cause to be made is true and perfect inventory of all and singer? ? the goods and chattels, rights and credits of the said deceased, which shall come to the hands, possessions, and knowledge of them the said William B. Torrence and John S. Torrence as such administrate to the hands of any other ??? personsfor the and thes ???? do exhibition cause to be ex?? in the courts of probate for the County of Linn agreeably to Law and such goods and chattels, rights and credits do well and truly administer according to law, and also the rest of the said goods and chattels, rights and credits which shall be found remaining upon the account of the said administrators the same being first examined and allowed by the court of probate shall deliver and ??? unto such persons as may be legally entited thereto and further do make a just and true account of all ??? actings and doings therein. When these unto required by the said court and if it shall hereafter appear that any last will and testament was made by the deceased, and the same be proved in court and letters, testaments of administation be obtained then and the said William B. Torrence and John S. Torrence do in such case and being required ?? ????, and deliver up the letters of administration granted to them as aforesaid and other acts which at any time may be required of this by Law, then this obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in ??? force and vesture?.
