John Collins - Removal Order

To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Lambeth, in the County of Surrey, and to the church wardens and overseers of the poor of the parish of Saint Martin in the Fields in the Liberty of Westminster in the County of Middlesex.

WHEREAS complaints have been made unto us L B Allen and Robert Hedger Esquires, two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the County of Surrey, (one whereof being of the Koran,) by you the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Lambeth, that John Collins is with and his wife and his four children by her namely Mary Ann aged ten years Elizabeth aged seven years Emma aged four years and Sophia aged two years lately come to inhabit in the said parish of Lambeth, endeavoring to settle themselves there, contrary to law, not having gained a legal Settlement there: and that the said John Collins and his said wife and his said four children are become chargeable to the said parish of Lambeth, and whereas upon examination of the said Ann Collins taken before us the said Justices, and upon other Circumstances, we the said Justices do adjudge the said premises to be true, and do also adjudge that the Parish of Saint Martin in the Fields in Liberty of Westminster in the County of Middlesex aforesaid, is the legal Settlement of the said John Collins and his said wife and his said four children

THESE are therefore by virtue and in pursuance of statutes, in that Case made and provided, to empower and require you the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Lambeth, to remove and convey the said John Collins and his said wife and his said four children from the said Parish of Lambeth, to the said Parish of Saint Martin in the Fields and them to deliver to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor thereof, who are hereby required to receive and provide for them according to law.

Given under our hands and seals the 22nd day of December and the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Two

WHEREAS it doth appearance unto us, the justices within named, that John Collins the pauper within ordered to be removed, is unable travel, by reason of Sickness and Infirmity. We therefore, by the virtue the power given to us by the statute, do hereby suspend the execution of the within Order of Removal, and it shall be made to appear to our Satisfaction, that it may be safely executed, withoutdanger to the said John Collins the person who is the subject thereof.

Given under our hands and seals this 23rd day of December One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Two

SURREY, WHEREAS it is now made to appear unto us, Two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace, in and for the said County of Surrey, and we are fully satisfied that the within Order of Removal may be safely executed without danger; we do therefore hereby order the same to be forthwith put in Execution accordingly. AND whereas it is duly proved to us upon Oath, that the charges incurred by the suspension of the within order of Removal amount to the sum of Two pounds and thirteen shillings

We do therefore ordered you, the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the parish of Saint Martin in the Fields (within named) to which the Parish of the Pauper above mentioned ordered to be removed to pay the sum of Two pounds and thirteen shillings on demand, to Robert Brown one of the Beadles for and by order of the Overseers of the Poor of Parish of Lambeth.
